London 2012 / Tech City – UK Business Opportunities

The Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa), in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment, is organising a seminar on Wednesday, 22 Feb 2012..    The Seminar will provide participants with the latest update on the business opportunities in UK from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.
 
London  2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games
The 2012 Games offers a host of business opportunities from the £300 million of direct opportunities that are still available, to the broader opportunities that are linked to London staging the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  The regeneration of East London was at the heart of London's bid to host the Games in 2012 and plans are well underway to transform Olympic Park after the Games into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with a clear sporting legacy, a new business hub, a visitor destination and new communities. 

The Olympic Village will deliver 2,818 new homes after the Games, including 1,379 affordable homes. The Village will also include new education and healthcare facilities, parklands, public squares and open space in one of the best connected parts of the capital. The long-term ambition for development over 25 years will see up to 11,000 new homes, including the Olympic Village flats.

Tech City
Not too far away from the Olympic Village is Tech City - home to technology, digital and creative companies. From the original Silicon Roundabout, an entrepreneurial cluster has grown up around Shoreditch and Old Street in East London, extending to reach the Olympic Park in Stratford. It offers opportunities for innovative businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to multinationals, from UK, Europe and beyond.
