Official Visit by Delegation from Quang Tri Province, Vietnam

SMF welcomed a visit from officials of Quang Tri Province People's Committee, Vietnam. Joining them was also His Excellency, Mr Nguyen Tien Minh, Ambassador for Vietnam to Singapore.

The intent of the visit was to present the investment opportunities in Quang Tri which is strategically located on the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) that runs through 13 provinces of 4 countries - Central Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.

His Excellency, Mr Nguyen Duc Chinh, Chairman of Quang Tri Province People's Committee said, "Quang Tri has a competitive edge in attracting foreign and domestic investors with its advantages of a geographical location, rich and diversified natural resources, minerals, aquaculture; famous historical and cultural relics; as well as new strengths in terms of infrastructure, transport system, human resources, reformed administrative procedures etc."

The delegation was led by His Excellency, Mr Nguyen Duc Chinh, Chairman of Quang Tri Province People's Committee. SMF President, Mr Douglas Foo and SMF Vice-President, Dr Ahmad Magad received him and the other delegates, and updated them on SMFs' role in Singapore's manufacturing sector.

The other delegates were Mr Do Nhat Hoang, Director General of Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Hanoi; Mr Nguyen Van Bon, Chief Provincial Administration Office of Quang Tri Province People's Committee; Mr Tran Doan, Director of Quang Tri Economic Zones Authority; Mr Nguyen Duc Tan, Director, External Relations and Cooperation Division of Quang Tri Province People's Committee; and Mr Tran Sy Huan, Managing Director of Hung Phat Production and Trade Company.
